[Haru.Alive] Vol2.Chap2 - Tender Greens [Summary]

*** For those who wonder if I do the scanlation for Tender Greens, actually I'm very confused. Because the Harudaki is licensed in English so I understand that I shouldn't do it. But as a big fan of Harudaki, I also know that for the English-speaking fans, they have to wait for a very very long time to be able to read these chapters. I just don't know what I should do :v What would you say? 

I found these after searching on the internet and I'm so happy to see raws of Tender Greens online.

 SUMARY OF THE CHAPTER

 

Our chapter picks up directly at the end of the last chapter. Katou is speaking to Shou(sorry got his name wrong last time.)

 
Shou tells Katou that his mother was against him coming to the showbiz world. His presence might cause trouble for those involved, but after being told that his father might actually be Iwaki, he needed to find out for sure.

Katou does the math and determines that in order to have fathered Shou, who is 18 years old, Iwaki would have to have been over 20 at the time, since he had only just come to Tokyo and entered the AV business at age 20, it’s almost not possible.

Shou currently has a father, and Katou assumes that mom may have also been in AV. Katou is a little overwhelmed and falls into the sofa unable to stand. Shou had just dropped a major bomb. Katou realizes that if something like this got out, it could be used as black mail. A rumor like this could be so damaging. He tells Shou that until they know more, and can present it properly, they need to keep this just between them. If even one more person knew of this, it could ruin Iwaki, any future Shou might have, and not to mention destroy Shou’s family.

Katou questions Shou’s mother’s motives. This was something that she could have taken to her grave, but instead she risked hurting her own child and all these years allowed another man to raise a child under the belief that he was his own. Katou wonders why now of all times did she choose to tell Shou? And he wonders if she only brought it up because Iwaki has become famous.

On the set, Iwaki arrives with a starstruck Yousuke. Director Mochimune is discussing the next scene with Katou and then comes to greet Iwaki. He asks if Yousuke is Katou’s illegitimate child. Katou quickly corrects that Yousuke is his nephew. The Executive Producer happens by and hears that Yousuke is Katou’s nephew and comes to say hello. Mochimune introduces him as EP Chiba-san. He has met Iwaki before, on previous work. He says he’s glad to see Iwaki feeling better and he was worried about his health. He asks if Yousuke is working for Iwaki. Iwaki says that he’s just signed a contract, and he thought bringing him would be a good learning experience. Yousuke introduces himself as “Moriguchi Yousuke” (I never knew his last name.) EP Chiba-san says if it had been a little sooner he could have read for Basara, and possibly made his debut. EP Chiba-san tells Mochimune that he would like to discuss ways to raise the show’s ratings, and Mochimune leaves with EP Chiba-san. Katou recalls Sawa mentioning that he knew someone connected to the production, and that it must be EP Chiba-san, who may have been involved in the dramatization of Sawa’s novels, but who was not the sort of person that Iwaki usually associated with(NOTE: Not entirely 100% certain about that translation. I went back a few chapters to that particular pic of Sawa, when he was talking about how he had heard of Katou’s involvement in Basara. I get the impression from Katou that he isn’t all that trusting of EP Chiba-san.)

Katou smacks Yousuke on the head for no reason other than he didn’t really want him near Iwaki. Yousuke refers to Katou as “Youji-kun” zero respect as an adult. Yousuke is crying and hugging Iwaki because Katou is mean to him. Katou tries to pull Yousuke off and Iwaki yells at him that it’s dangerous the way he’s trying to remove him. Shou sees this very loving exchange. Iwaki and Yousuke notice Shou, and ask who he is. Katou attempts to introduce him, but Shou panics and pulls Katou away while shouting his apologies. Katou yells to Iwaki that he’ll meet him back at his place. Iwaki can’t help noticing the familiarity between Shou and Katou.

Back at the room, Iwaki gets a call from Shimizu. They have received an offer for Yousuke to play a small part in “Basara!” He won’t have any lines, but they want him to play Oda Nobunaga’s 11 year old son, Myoumaru (historically he will become Oda Nobutada after taking over the family.) Iwaki is against the idea because someone will lose that part in favor of Yousuke, and the backlash from other actors could be harsh. Shimizu reminds him, that this world is about that lucky break and even if it causes controversy, it’s a debut!(Go Shimizu, what a cut-throat boss). She tells Iwaki he’s being overprotective because of his relationship with Yousuke, and wouldn’t be this way for any other employee, or even himself. Iwaki remembers a time when he was praying for a break in his career, and if he only had that chance to prove himself, but he’s worried that Yousuke is too young. Shimizu reminds him that Yousuke’s parents have allowed him in the entertainment world so Iwaki needs to see opportunities for Yousuke the way he does for other clients.

Iwaki sits down with Yousuke and tells him about the offer, and that he would have preferred that he had a chance to learn more, but the offer is there if he wants it. Yousuke says, though he would have preferred to have lines, he wants to do it. Especially if Iwaki thinks Yousuke can do it. Yousuke promises to work hard and make Iwaki proud of him. Iwaki feels that Yousuke is like his own son, and there’s no reason he won’t do well. So he tells Yousuke that he’s sure he’ll find the job fun and interesting. Iwaki thinks that it will be exciting to watch Yousuke grow. Iwaki promises to look after him and help him.

Katou comes home, they were shooting a little late today. Iwaki has snacks and a bath ready. Katou asks where Yousuke is, and Iwaki said he’s gone to sleep, he worked hard today on his acting lessons (the assumption is that Iwaki is helping to prep him for being on screen). Katou comments that Yousuke is faking sleep just so the little pervert can sleep next to Iwaki on the futon.

Iwaki tells Katou that’s enough of that, Iwaki is much older than Yousuke’s dad, Keita-kun and is technically Yousuke’s uncle. Eventhough he’s emotionally attached, Yousuke is a child and he’s not Katou’s opponent. Katou can’t accept that, (he knows his opponents). Iwaki tells him to be quiet, and asks if something happened today to upset him. Katou backs off and says “Not really” and then opts to take a bath instead.

 
While sitting in the bath, Katou is thinking about the situation he’s in. He mentions being jealous of Yousuke, but he might be drawing a parallel between himself and Shou, who happened upon Iwaki hugging Yousuke. Katou thinks about their conversation, and Shou got nervous, worried about what Katou said about breaking up families. So he asks Katou, who is close to Iwaki to obtain a hair sample for a DNA test. Katou is having a rough day.

Iwaki asks if the water is hot enough and comes in with some sake. It’s cold outside and Katou shouldn’t get out of the bath too quickly or he could get dizzy. Katou is thinking that maybe Shou and his mother’s relationship with her husband is not going well, and if Iwaki is Shou’s father, and she had abandoned Iwaki, would she come around now if it turns out to be true?

Iwaki asks if “Murai” is Shou’s real name. Katou is shocked by this and says he doesn’t know, why does he ask?

 
Iwaki says it’s nothing but he looks like someone he knew, but that’s probably not possible. Katou asks if it was a woman he used to know. Iwaki smiles and says,　it was a person who helped him. Katou asks what kind of person? Iwaki sighs and says, There are maybe 1 or 2 ugly stories in his past that he hasn’t told Katou about.

Katou is shocked. “That you couldn’t tell…ME????!!!”

Katou starts to get out the tub, “I’m sure people have these kinds of stories all the time right…NO!!!”

 
Iwaki is shocked and Katou storms out very angry. “I guess I’m getting dizzy after all.”

 
Iwaki puts a towel around naked Katou’s shoulders and says, “Are you okay?” and leans his head on Katou’s back. “Why are you getting jealous so easily today? It’s really not that kind of story.”
Katou getting a little tense looking, “it’s nothing, it’s nothing, really I just got dizzy”

 
Katou to himself: “it’s no good, I’m such a bad actor. With this face, I can’t tell Iwaki the real reason(why I’m upset).”
Katou turns and kisses Iwaki hard. Katou says it’s okay when it’s just the two of them, with no foreign bodies around. Iwaki is very surprised by Katou’s aggressiveness and says, “Foreign body? You mean Yousuke?”

So this conversation during sex is Katou’s jealous rage. He hasn’t had one of these THIS BAD or THIS DARK in a long time. He is so shaken by the possibility of their being a child that could come between them. The conversation is a little hard for me to put in English, but after Katou refers to Yousuke as a foreign body, Iwaki says something like it’s not like he’s adopted. Katou says that it’s like the time when Yousuke was born and Iwaki thought he was supposed to be their child, but they were just newly-weds and that was fantasy talk. They went on and built a home together, just the two of them, with no children in mind, and now reality is trying to break down the door.

Katou is being very rough with Iwaki, and he enters him abruptly causing Iwaki to moan loudly. Iwaki tries to muffle his voice. Katou says, “Your sexy voice is intriguing, but I know you are holding back so Yousuke won’t hear. I hate that, and if your voice isn’t for only me, I don’t want to hear it.”

The impression I get from the next panel is that Katou is physically covering Iwaki’s mouth…maybe…maybe…that’s just speculation from the “uuuuunnnnn” sound Iwaki makes and the position of Katou’s arms.

Meanwhile, Shou is waiting outside and thinks about his conversation with Katou. Katou refused to get Iwaki’s hair for a DNA test or to be the middle man. They made a promise to keep this between them, and when Shou is ready to talk to Iwaki, Katou will be there with him.

Suddenly EP Chiba-san shows up and says, “Are you ready to go, I’ve been waiting.” Shou says yes and they leave together….What??? WHAT????

Is “daddy” Chiba-san?????? Does he actually know what’s going on? That would explain how Shou was able to get close to Katou, and why Katou was requested for this part, and why he’s being a ball-buster and hiring Yousuke, which by the way, did not get mentioned to the already fragile Katou. Thank goodness Iwaki’s heart is better. I think he wouldn’t be able to take much more from Katou.

On the side of the last page says, “Chiba and Murai, where are they going???” (who knows maybe Shou used his body to get the part? OH YUCK! My brain is mush now.)
